The image of tulips and magnolia blossoms sharing the stage at Highland Park on Mother’s Day weekend is such a perfect collision of timing — nature rarely cooperates that graciously. I’ve always thought of the Lilac Festival as one of those rare community moments where Rochester collectively exhales after winter, and apparently the other blooms wanted in on that feeling too. According to the Olmsted Network, Highland Park contains one of the largest lilac collections in North America, so adding tulips and magnolias to that backdrop feels almost unfairly beautiful. Did you find that the tulip and magnolia presence drew people toward different corners of the park than usual, or did everyone still gravitate toward the lilac walk first?
