  1. Great letter to the editor Art!  Too bad that the News once again missed an opportunity to do the right thing and help the voices of the “little people” be heard. Daniel I. Sheff

  2. Mr Giacalone I find your letter very interesting. I live in Saratoga Springs, and we are currently fighting a similar situation. Our City Council (except for one of the members) approved a rezoning of 20 acres in the middle of a residential area -for office buildings- which will totally destroy the neighborhood. Despite strong opposition from the whole neighborhood and logical arguments against it, they justified the rezoning with a variety of explanations, but the simple truth is that it will produce huge revenue in the future. Unfortunately they also have enough cash to pay for their necessary propaganda, and only those directly affected are aware of all the facts. I wish there was someone like you in our city who could inform the public about these corrupt practices and provide the whole picture to residents. Our local paper is not much use. Our neighborhood has filed an article 78 proceeding against the City Council and we are now waiting for the final decision. It’s unfortunate that we have to spend so much time and money to protect our properties from our elected officials. Keep up the good work!
